Final gig of September seeing WASP with Tim at the Eventim Apollo, or as we like to call it, the Hammersmith Odeon.
I’ve seen WASP many many times so when Blackie announced the anniversary tour for the first WASP album it was a no brainer…tickets were bought immediately and the wait began until the date came around.
Armored Saint were support, a band fronted by John Bush who spent some time as the lead singer in Anthrax – love Anthrax and loved the albums they did with him. Not only did he do a great job on those albums but he put his own spin on Anthrax’s classics too, unlike Mr Belladonna who has never touched any of the John Bush era songs live! Tut tut!
Anyway, I’d not seen Armored Saint before, and only having a couple of their most recent albums I was looking forward to seeing them. And, despite John’s mic giving up the ghost a few songs in (he used the guitarist’s mic for the rest of their set) they put on a pretty good show. I’d definitely go and see them again.
Here’s their setlist:
- March of the Saint
- End of the Attention Span
- Long Before I Die
- Last Train Home
- Left Hook From Right Field
- Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
- Win Hands Down
- Can U Deliver
- Reign of Fire
WASP were great! I don’t think in all the years I’ve been seeing them live they’ve ever put on a bad show. I’ve got to give it to Blackie, at nearly 70 years old he put on a great show – awesome!
Here’s their setlist:
- I Wanna Be Somebody
- L.O.V.E. Machine
- The Flame
- B.A.D.
- School Daze
- Hellion
- Sleeping (in the Fire)
- On Your Knees
- Tormentor
- The Torture Never Stops
- The Big Welcome
- Inside the Electric Circus / I Don’t Need No Doctor / Scream Until You Like It
- The Real Me / Forever Free / The Headless Children
- Wild Child
- Blind in Texas
