New Years Eve Wander

A damp stroll before the end of the year

With the end of the year just round the corner, and Shelli being full of this awful cold that’s afflicted pretty much all of us over Christmas – I decided to take myself off for a little stroll for the afternoon.

Having taken Snow for a few long(ish) walks over the previous week I decided to leave her at home so that I could not only enjoy the walk for walk’s sake, but also to take my better camera out with me instead of just using my phone to take some snaps, something I’d not done in quite some time.

I had a rough plan of where I wanted to walk – I’d already walked out of the village most ways already with Snow over the holiday – so I packed some food and drink in my pack, put it on my back and headed out of the door on a grey, slightly drizzly lunchtime.

It was lovely being out on the trails again, and it being New Year’s Eve it meant hardly anyone was out with me, leaving the local countryside all to me. Lovely.

I wasn’t exactly hanging around as I made my way out to Ipsden and round to Checkendon, before heading back to Woodcote, but the pace wasn’t hurting, even on the up hill sections.

All in all a fantastic – if a little soggy – few hours outside before seeing in the New Year with my beautiful wife and eldest daughter.
