Summer Holiday 2019: Day 2

Great Langdale Stroll and Ambleside

Not a great start to the day being woken up to an almighty cracking noise from outside of the camper.

We literally jumped out of bed to find the awning bracket had snapped, which in turn broke the support legs. Brilliant! To make things even worse we had no signal so we couldn’t phone anyone, but the guys in the campsite office were awesome, letting us use their phone to get the AA out to remove the broken awning; it was the first time the guy who came out had ever had to do that.

They also let us wrap it up and leave it in a safe place to be picked up by the supplier of the awning so that we didn’t have to try and fit that in the camper with everyone and everything else for the rest of our holiday.

Once all that had been sorted out we got ourselves out and did the walk from our pre-honeymoon, walking round the Great Langdale valley, stopping at Sticklebarn – the National Trust pub – for lunch before heading back to the campsite to freshen up.

Next was a trip into Ambleside to see lake Windermere and to have a stroll around before heading back for more Pooh sticks and dinner at the pub.
