Slayer!

Slayer announced a London date around their appearance at Black Sabbath’s little music festival, so obviously I had to be there.

I’d really hoped that Steve (the biggest Slayer fan I know!) could have made it down for the weekend to see them but sadly he couldn’t make it, which was a total bummer. Knowing how gutted he was I planned to get him as many photos and videos as I could so that he could at least feel like he’d been there.

It wasn’t only Slayer playing; they were supported by Neckbreaker, Hatebreed, Mastodon, Anthrax, and Amon Amarth. Not a bad line up at all. I’d never seen Mastodon or Amon Amarth before so that was going to be something new, along with the venue: Finsbury Park in London.

I got there and waited with the masses for the gates to open, and when we were let in I made my way straight to the barrier, getting as close as I could, with the aim being to stay there throughout the entire gig so that I could get the best photos and videos as I could for Steve. No pits. None of my usual fun and games at gigs; this was for Steve.

10 1/2 hours later I left Frinsbury Park having watched an amazing day of bands, and once Steve had seen the pictures and videos he said it was like he’d actually been there so that made it 100% worth it.
