Summer Holiday 2019: Day 1

The Drive To Great Langdale National Trust Campsite

An early start to hit the road up to the Lake District for the first part of our summer holiday in Russ’ bus.

Great Langdale was somewhere we’d been to on day 3 of our pre-honeymoon back in 2016. We’d not stayed at the campsite but walked from Sticklebarn to get a better look at Langdale valley.

Once there the first order of business was giving Elisa her Birthday presents and cards. After that we pitched the girls’ tent and unpacked and took a little walk to investigate the campsite and then headed off to the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel hikers bar for a well deserved dinner and drink, playing Pooh sticks on the bridge over a little stream.

On the way back to the campsite we headed up the hill towards Side Pike to have a look and take some photos, not that we walked to the top though as the weather was beginning to close in.

After that, the girls for themselves tucked up in their beds for the night, all very tired after a long day on the road.
