Summer Holiday 2019: Day 9

Torr Dhuin And Fort Augustus

A day off from driving considering the number of miles we’d covered since the start of the holiday, especially with the Isle of Skye. We also gave the girls a day off to chill out as well as it’d been pretty full-on for the last 8 days.

Not wanting to spend all day just sat around Shelli and I headed down to the road to walk up/round Toor Dhuin, one of several Iron Age forts or duns along the Great Glen. The weather was a bit drizzly but that didn’t stop us walking up the hill to take in the views over the River Oich; a lovely couple of miles through the woods for sure.

Later on in the day, and with the need to pick up a few supplies, I strolled into Fort Augustus to visit the little shop there. By then the rain had gone, the sky was blue, and the temperature had risen quite a bit.
