In these mad times we find ourselves in people with mental health problems have never been more in need of help, and with the NHS’ services at breaking point it’s charities like Dare 2 Express that try to fill in the gaps and give people the support they need. That’s why I’m trying to raise money for Dare 2 Express, and you can sponsor me using my Just Giving page.

Week 7

Day 30

Day 30 and although still feeling a bit under the weather, I managed to get two runs in for a total of 6 miles today.

All bar the final 1/5 of a mile was on the B9154, which turned out to be a cracking little road to take. It not only cut out a good chunk of the A9, it had some lovely scenery along the way. Much nicer than being on the A9 for 6 miles that’s for sure!

The run took me past the Lachlan Mackintosh Memorial, a memorial to the 30th chief of the clan Mackintosh, near Loch Moy. Lachlan Ronald Duncan Mackintosh served in the Royal Navy, with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander. Later he served as a Justice of the Peace and was Deputy Lieutenant of Inverness-shire and Lord Lieutenant of Lochaber, Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey.

There’s an island on Loch Moy called the Isle of Moy. On the island are the ruins of Moy Castle that was seat of the Chiefs of Clan Mackintosh from the 14th century to about 1700.

Sadly, that was it for week 7. No more runs as I was really feeling wiped out and run down, and trying to be a bit sensible about it all I decided to take a break on the lead up to and over Christmas, with the hope being I’d be fighting fit to tackle the miles again as the clock ticked over into 2021.
